Spring is coming in March. This is often the time of year where we start spring cleaning and de-cluttering our homes. But what about spring cleaning our bodies and de-cluttering our minds? Here are some tips to help you do some spring cleaning for your mind, body, and soul: Take Advantage of the Warming Weather Have you been sitting a lot this winter? Manual Osteopathy believes that your body's structure equals how you function. Shortened and tight muscles from sitting a lot will disable optimal function of those muscles. As the weather starts to warm up, it is easier to find ways to get those muscles and joints moving. Grab some tunes and go for a walk! Even a short walk outside can help improve your mood, strengthen your bones and muscles, improve your balance and improve your coordination. Can't get outside? Try doing some quad or hamstring stretches at home which will help your legs move and feel better. Drink More Water
Keeping hydrated is an important part of staying healthy. Water promotes cardiovascular health, helps with detoxification, keeps your body cool, helps muscles and joints work better, and keeps skin supple. Here is this month’s hydration recipe to help those that don’t like drinking plain “boring” water: Mixed Berry Water Ingredients: 1 cup raspberries 1 cup blueberries 1 cup blackberries Water Instructions: Add all the fruit to a pitcher of water. Refrigerate for 4-6 hours to infuse the flavours. Refill as needed. Start Slow Working on our mind and our soul can sometimes be more difficult than working on our physical health. Spring is a great season to clean out your mind and let positive, balanced energy in. Begin with one thought, one intention to clean something out, and think of it while you breathe and try to release it. As time passes, your intention will become reality, and your mind will feel as neat & tidy as you newly cleaned-out garage. Sleep! Getting eight hours of sleep per night can lengthen your life expectancy and support your immune system, while also making your more productive during your waking hours. Eight hours can be tough for some people, so if it’s not an option, try meditation. Even just 20 minutes of meditation per day has been shown to increase emotional and physical health as well as reduce your risk for heart disease. 3/14/2019 04:28:33 am
