Manual Osteopathy identifies, assesses, and treats the body’s structures and rhythm using a gentle, hands-on approach. Manual Osteopaths are trained to find and treat the root cause of dysfunction and not just chase the symptoms. It is a drug-free, non-invasive treatment that focuses on treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework, which includes joints, muscles, bones, internal organs and fluids of the body. This type of treatment uses a whole body approach to health care. The first appointment starts with an assessment of posture, movement, pain, range of motion, and medical history. There are no details that are unimportant. Even our diet can give clues and insights into our pain because our body is all connected and each system affects the body as a whole. The goal of the osteopathic practitioner is to balance all the systems of the body to provide overall good health and wellbeing. This balance is achieved with only the use of their hands. Manual Osteopaths believe that there is no tool as sensitive as human touch, so no other machines or tools will be used during your treatment. Most of us have experienced digestive problems - whether it’s gas, bloating, reflux, constipation, or diarrhea. And needless to say, it is uncomfortable, not only physically but mentally! In fact, roughly 20 million Canadians deal with digestive issues. So if it is so common, why is it so difficult to talk about? According to society, it’s not cool to chat about bowel issues. Let’s break up with that idea - I’m here to tell you it’s good to talk about poop! Improving symptoms such as bowel irregularity, gas, and bloating is one of the many things a dietitian can help you with! It all starts with a conversation. Storytelling is a very important part of figuring out your digestive woes. If you’ve been dealing with gut issues, you may not have found the right person to hear you out. Doctors are extremely knowledgeable, but don’t always have the time to get the full story. As a dietitian, it is my job (and passion) to give your gut the much needed attention it deserves! |
