Reiki is a deeply relaxing treatment that helps a patient regulate the energy flow within their body. The word Reiki comes from ‘Rei' meaning divine wisdom in Japanese and ‘Ki’ is Japanese for life force energy. In Indian culture this is referred to as Prana and in Chinese culture it’s called Qi. Our life force travels through us and if it isn’t properly balanced then illness or injury become more prevalent. When our life force is balanced the body and internal organs can function at their optimal level, and our bodies are better prepared to heal themselves. |
How Does Reiki Work?
Reiki begins with the patient laying down on a table with their clothes on. The healer then begins to use their hands to feel out the energy within the person. This can be done by holding the hands lightly on an area of the body or just above it. Healers say they’re able to feel energy blockages in the patient through the pulsing and heat they experience in their hands while holding them in place. Only until they no longer have that sensation do they move on to another spot. A typical treatment lasts between 60-90 minutes.
