Resetting Your Whole Body to Find Balance, Reduce Pain and Stiffness & Improve Mobility
Manual Osteopathy is a drug-free, gentle, non-invasive hands-on treatment that is a unique holistic approach which focuses on treating the whole body. A trained Manual Osteopath encompasses the combined benefits of a massage therapist, chiropractor, and physiotherapist wrapped into one. This holistic and whole-body healing approach utilizes the Manual Osteopath’s extensive anatomical knowledge to improve a patient’s mobility, reduce their pain and stiffness, and bring their body back to balance. Come find out why we're considered a Manual Osteopath Calgary leader today.
How Does Manual Osteopathy Work?
Manual Osteopaths identify and assess the body using osteopathic palpation, a very sensitive touch that feels the body's structures and rhythms. The treatment is performed using the fingers and hands of the specialist to treat irregularities or imbalances within a patient’s muscles, organs, bones, joints, ligaments, or connective tissue. The goal is to restore proper structure and function and promote healing from within. This hands-on therapy uses different techniques such as soft tissue manipulation to improve circulation and repair improper biomechanics without using surgery or drugs.
The Whole-Body 4 Aspect Approach to Healing
Structural
Highly Effective at Treating Muscle or Bone Imbalances and Promoting Proper Biomechanics
Much like its name suggests, structural osteopathy is focused on treating and healing the muscles and bones which make up our musculoskeletal system. A highly-trained Manual Osteopath from Trinity Wellness Centre provides more than simple pain relief however, as their manual techniques are aimed at finding and treating the cause of the problem instead of just treating symptoms. Given the Manual Osteopath’s complete knowledge of the body, they’re also able to identify and correct disorders before any symptoms appear.
Fascial
Relieve Muscle Tension and Improve Function
Fascia is the glue that holds our bodies together. This band or web-like covering of connective tissue also serves to protect and support our muscles and organs. Because fascia is found throughout our whole body, it can cause major problems when it’s been made to be tight or inflexible either through injury, overuse, illness, or even poor posture. At Trinity Wellness Centre our Manual Osteopaths perform fascial work when they discover imbalances or issues in your fascia to ease muscle tension and improve the functionality of your body. Myofascial release is similar to massage, except the manual techniques and treatments are lighter and take longer to perform.
VisceralEnsure Your Organs Are in Their Proper Place So They’re Functioning EffectivelyEach and every one of our organs has a specific movement associated with it which is caused by breathing or its normal physiology. When their natural rhythm is disrupted, diseases can be developed, pain can be caused, and they may even fail in performing their important functions. Because all our organs work in conjunction with one another, any disruption in one inevitably leads to problems in others. Visceral osteopathy works to address this important issue by ensuring organs are in their proper place. The Manual Osteopath will do this by checking the mobility of the organs and shape of the muscles, tissues, and ligaments surrounding it. If an imbalance is found, the Manual Osteopath will gently manipulate the affected area back into alignment. Doing so helps boost the body’s regenerative healing capabilities and helps prevent further diseases.

Craniosacral
Eliminate Spine, Skull & Sacrum Issues by Restoring Balance to the Circulation of Blood & Other Fluids
The craniosacral system is comprised of the brain, skull, sacrum, spinal cord, and fluids such as cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Because the system travels from the head to the base of the spine, it affects the other systems in our body, too. The craniosacral system has a normal rhythm, and when it’s disturbed, a number of complications can arise. At Trinity Wellness Centre our skilled Manual Osteopaths can detect when your rhythm is out of balance. After determining this is the issue, they use specialized biodynamic craniosacral techniques on the skull and sacrum to bring it back into harmony. Doing so can help reduce discomfort or correct health issues associated with the spine, skull, and sacrum. It can also help restore mobility and increase circulation throughout your entire body.
Highly Specialized & Personalized Treatment Which Reduces Discomfort by Finding the Root of Your Problem
Manual Osteopathy is a highly specialized treatment that is personally tailored to each specific patient. It aims to restore balance within the body, and the cause of that imbalance differs greatly from one person to the next. At Trinity Wellness Centre our Manual Osteopaths will work with you to find out exactly what’s causing your current imbalance, then provide the necessary treatment to help end your discomfort.
A Manual Osteopath Can be Your Health Detective & Recommend the Right TreatmentGiven their complete knowledge of human anatomy, Manual Osteopaths are the perfect health detective when you need to find out what’s really causing your problems. With the human body being so intricately interconnected, a Manual Osteopath can determine if your shoulder pain is actually caused by stress or a liver dysfunction - or both. We diligently work with you to find the best treatment combination or plan for your situation. With so many other healers across a wide array of complementary medicine disciplines here at Trinity Wellness Centre, we can put you in the best possible position for whole-body health. And you won’t even have to leave the building.
