Control Inflammation and Improve Liver Function with All-Natural Herbal Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) encompasses a number of different therapies such as acupuncture, cupping, nutrition, exercise, massage, moxibustion, and herbal medicine. Depending on the Qi imbalance you’re currently experiencing, herbal medicine (which includes teas, tinctures, capsules, or supplements) can control inflammation and improve liver function, which is crucial in bringing your body back to harmony. At Trinity Wellness Centre, our Doctors of Traditional Chinese Medicine can work with you to find the exact cause of your disease as opposed to just treating the current symptoms. Whereas the same medication may be prescribed for two patients suffering sinusitis by a medical doctor, a TCM Doctor may end up with two completely different treatments because the cause of their sinusitis is different.

All Our Herbal Medicine is Ethically Sourced and SustainableTraditional Chinese Medicine has evolved a lot over the last two decades, no more so then when it comes to the use of endangered plant species or animals in herbal medicine. In 1993 the Chinese government banned the use of rhino horn in traditional Chinese medicine, setting the precedent for regulatory bodies across the world including Canada. At Trinity Wellness Centre all our herbal medicine is ethically sourced and sustainable with no endangered plant or animal ingredients, and all of our products are governed by Health Canada’s Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) quality assurance program. Some of our supplements or herbal medicines are available for purchase in-store, and if we don’t have what you need we can order it for you through an online herbal dispensary. We also make every attempt to prescribe vegetarian herbal medicine when possible.

What’s in Traditional Chinese herbal medicine?
More often than not traditional Chinese herbal medicine features a blend of 2 to 10 herbs. Some of the most common ingredients in traditional Chinese herbal medicine include ginseng, ginger, safflower, astragalus, licorice, nutmeg, and gingko biloba.
How does Traditional Chinese herbal medicine work?
Herbal medicine has been practiced in China for more than three centuries and the wealth of knowledge that’s been accumulated over that timespan has aided greatly in refining mixtures into effective remedies. In fact, most drugs in Western medicine actually originated from plants, such as aspirin. They are synergistic blends of herbs (usually roots, berries, flowers etc.) designed to work together in your body, chosen specially for your symptoms in your body.
Moxibustion Heat Therapy for Relieving Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain, Rotating Breeched Babies, and Regulating the Digestive System
Moxibustion is one of the lesser known forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine but brings with it a multitude of benefits. Originally believed to be just heat therapy, we now know that it goes much deeper than that! It has been shown to have thermal effects with the heat penetrating into the surrounding tissue relieving pain, reducing inflammation increasing blood flow and energy. It has a wave length within the near infrared range. Moxibustion has been shown to have pharmacological effects on free radicals and toxins in the body.
How does moxibustion work?
Dried mugwort (artemisia vulgaris) — an aromatic plant — is packed and rolled into a long dense stick and ignited. The practitioner then waits until the mugwort begins to smoulder before administering treatment. The cigar-looking stick is then held with great care near the surface of the patient’s skin at specific acupuncture points. By allowing the mugwort to smoulder, a distinctive and powerful penetrating heat is achieved, leading the patient to experience a flooding of warmth in the area where the moxa stick is being held. We also offer smokeless moxibustion for patients with respiratory conditions.
